Renewable and Alternative Energy Supplements

Modern energy access for basic lighting and cooking needs is fundamental to human development. Yet across rural areas, there is a large gap between demand and supply of appropriate energy services. LAVS in partnership with TERI has been promoting renewable and alternative energy supplements in its project areas. Thanks to this partnership, it has been possible to extend full benefit of solar energy to rural villages which do not have electricity connection till date. The move has been quite popular with the demand for solar equipment is growing in communities over the years. Other components of the initiative include distribution of smokeless stove, installation of biogas plants, supply of low cost water filters etc

RURAL CONNECTIVITY

A good road network has an important bearing on the economic growth of the country. Rural Connectivity is perceived as one of the major component in increasing the agricultural output and earning capacity of the rural population. There is a marked improvement in quality of life by way of better educational facilities, improved health services, improved attendance by the school teachers as well as students. Accessibility also provides improvement in governance and provision of other essential facilities and services.

LAVS has been engaged as the Project Implementation Consultant (PIC) by Odisha State Rural Roads Authority (OSRRA) to provide support to State Implementing Agency in implementation of ADB’s requirements of Social Safeguards, Environmental Safeguards, Road Safety and Road Maintenance under RRSIII-IP.  The task requires conduct of due diligence and monitoring of a part of earlier batches of project of RRS-II-IP in addition to project preparation and monitoring of RRSIII-IP
