Organization Profile
Life Academy of Vocational Studies (LAVS) is a not-for-profit, secular, charitable organization having its legal entity as a Society under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. It strives to improve the quality of lives of people living with lower development indicators, under stressed and sub-human conditions, having less or no opportunities for further improvements.
LAVS is a non political, non religious and nonprofit organization. LAVS is a democratically governed body with well defined and written down bye-laws and required registrations under the law of the land. It has a General Body and an Executive Body. General Body meetings are held at least once in a year whereas the Executive Body meets once in a quarter or more as per requirement. The day to day management of the organization is vested on the Executive Body. The Executive Body gets elected by the General Body every five years. Its accounts are audited every year by an external audit farm.
Its approach to pursue its objects is multi-pronged, implementing development initiatives, undertaking research, surveys and studies, holding seminars and workshops on relevant and emerging issues influencing human lives. Its works spread across the state of Odisha and beyond. It is manned with experienced and qualified human resources that have a dedication towards achieving organizational goal.
Vision Statement:
A society where people’s action is given priority for benefit and betterment of children, women, poor and marginal sections of the community, guaranteeing eco-friendly sustainable development based on equity, empowerment and initiatives for self reliance by the target clients.
Mission Statement:
Supplement community capacity building and skill up-gradation to inculcate in them a sense of ownership and active partnership with government and development agencies in decision making and programmes affecting their development and well being.
Goal:
Investments in improvement, stabilization, conservation of natural resources mainly water and soil, development of climate resilient agro-horticultural practices and empowerment of women to become active parts of income generating mechanism in respective areas.
